I guess I can. These are plates only - they get welded in to cover the area the sway bar bushing now sits on. You will need to get Prothane bushings (which include brackets) yourself. I got mine from Summit, although Stazi has another source for them. THE BRACKETS ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THE BACKING PLATES. When I saw brackets, I mean the metal pieces that you call straps.

The sweet part about this fix (and this bracket)is that is does away with the hook front end and uses a 2-bolt bracket. Hence, no more problems with the bracket's hook end pulling out of the subframe's receiver slot.

Thanks for your reply. Hmmmmmm, you say you got straps/brakets from Summit? I got my poly bushings from BAT and they didn't include the "straps". I may have to go down and pick them up. I need to do something this thing is driving me nuts! I glad to hear that the new backing plates have bolts on both sides of the "strap"! What was Ford thinking with this damn tab and slot deal?
Can i still order some backing plates?

Ford was looking out for the bottom line. Tab-and-slot on one end means one less bolt on the bill of materials and easier assembly. And in Ford's defence, it works just fine with the OE sway bars. It's just us enthusiasts that get hosed frown

That's the bummer of modifying cars these days - stock setups are so optimized that little tweaks here and there can really lead to big problems down the road.

Hello ladies and gents,
Thought I'd give you all an update on the backing plates.
What with SZ, practically breaking my foot at Indoor Soccer (I am gimping around on it), working my "real" job, and trying to keep the wife happy, I have been dragging with making mods etc for my customers.. shocked
I hope that you guys aren't ready to kill me but at least I have all the plates cut and ready for drilling. This week I promise to get that done and start sending them out.

Can I ask that those who have paid me please email me again (FWD'in me a copy of the PayPal transaction would be excellent!) so that I do not miss sending people their plates.

Thanks for your patience guys, I appreciate it.

Hey Aussie...dont know if you remember, but I bought one of the first bars you made....only this past weekend got the time to actually install. I am interested in buying a pair of backing plates, just wondering if they are still available.

Let me know, I dont really think I will have a problem with them breaking or anything, ive been driving like grandpa jones lately...(its tuff turning 32....grey hairs and all) mostly because the roads around here SUCK.

anyway, let me know...

Take care

Guys and Gals, got to fly to Mexico on business tomorrow till Sunday(don't worry it's not Cancun - I wish!) so there will be yet another delay with the backing plates, as I won't be able to finish 'em up and send them this week. Sorry, and please bare with me.
