I am planning to lower my 99 SVT on Eibach sportlines and I was told an alignment is not necessary when doing this because camber and casper is not adustable on my car. Is this true?

Although the caster and camber are not adjustable, they will most certainally change (and probably still be within spec) with lowering springs. That means that the toe settings WILL change.

So yes, you should do an alignment after installing lowering springs. If for no other reason then to make sure it is correct after disturbing things.

There is a great explanation about this in the BAT catalog. www.batinc.net

Depending on drop, size of wheels, offset etc the camber will change and can be out of spec.If the A arm bushes are worn or just stoc units odds on it will be...

Pardon my ignorance in the following line of questions. I currently have my SE lowered with Eibachs and also have E0 rims. I had my car aligned (supposedly) after dropping it. Well, time goes by and I notice the inner edges of the front tires are worn down to the steel. If they align the car to factory spec, wouldn't it still be misaligned? Does anyone know what the specs should be after lowering 1.5"? Please help, so I don't have to replace tires all the time. Thanks.

The specs don't change. The readings will. You will have more negative camber. It may still be in spec. You can also have tire wear as you have described from excessive toe out. I happened to me. It seems that the toe out on the fronts grows over time so i recommend setting the front toe as close to 0 as possible while still just barely being toed out. Set the rears as close to 0 as possible while still being just barely toed in.

There is an excellent discussion about the camber change from installing lowering springs in the BAT catalog. www.batinc.net

I wish that someone made an aftermarket camber / caster adjusting system for our cars. There are companies that say they have them in the works, but do not actually have them for sale yet. I would feel more comfortable with a little less negative camber in my car.
