Do poly bushings for the sway bars make a difference in handling? Is it a noticeable diff?
thanks

I'd like to know as well.

But I imagine that it would make a difference, since the poly doesn't have as much "give" as the rubber.

I have poly bushings for my SCA 21mm rear sway bar. The stiffness of that bar is much increased over stock so it is hard to identify how much handling difference is due to the bar vs the bushings. As an engineer, I would guess that far and away the largest difference is from the bar stiffness, not the bushings.

Unfortunately poly bushings can be a ***** to keep lubed. Unlubed, they squeak painfully. As such, I wouldn't recommend them unless you feel like lubing them frequently.

They will help with initial feedback as they have less compliance with rubber, but once the bar is loaded up and the poly bushings is compressed, the handling will be no different to stock as the sway bar is still the same torsional rigidity. Bushings do NOT affect torsional rigidity. What this means is that when you yank on the steering wheel the car will settle down into the turn sooner, but body lean etc will be the same. don't let anyone tell you different.

I just installed the urethane bushings from the Energy kit I bought from SP Motorsports. Maybe it's all in my head, but response does feel more "crisp" than it used to be.

The existing rubber bushings that I removed were considerably worn, i.e., soft.

Aussie, I have to disagree. Bushings will help with lean AND response for a given load. With the stock bushings, you get alot of lean from the bushing compression, before the bar even starts to do some real work. Polys will eliminate that compression, making the bar work earlier and reducing body lean to some extent. Of course, if you want no lean whatsoever, then the aussie bar will do the trick...

Try the polys first, if you're not satified, upgrade to the aussi bar or some bigger bar with polys. Made a real difference on my car, just make sure you don't bend the brackets when you put them back on...

If you use the proper grease the bushings will stay quiet for a long, long time. I did mine a couple of years ago and still no squeaks. Good mod for the $$$ at the REAR only.
