I got urethane sway bushings for my 98 SVT. The rears where easy to install. I couldn't figure out how to do the fronts. I couldn't get the bolts out that held the bushings in place. I would appreciate any help or tips.

I believe that in order to get to the front bushings, BAT told me that you have to drop the subframe.

Michael Better be ready to cuss repeatedly and make sure you have a six-pack around b/c it is a hell of a lot of work for something so little. AggieSVT is correct, you have to drop the subframe to get to the bolts...sucks don't it I have been wanting to do this for a while but I am waiting until I pull my engine to do them...nothing in the way then

Can you say "waste of money"? It's necessary to undo the 2 rear bolts holding the subframe to the chassis. Then take a really big pry bar and pry/bend the subframe down at the rear until there's enough clearance for a helper to remove the bolts/brackets. Then cut/grind the bolts about 1 inch shorter so you can get them back in without having to pry the rear portion of the subframe down again. Oh yes, it may also be necessary to grind down a wrench so it will fit between the frame and the bracket for tightening purposes. Also, adding poly bushings to the front adds understeer. Normally, this is the opposite of what you want. However, to each his own. Suggestion-Do your homework before dropping your hard earned $$$ on mods.

There's a tolerance at the factory, and each car is different. On mine I was able to replace the bushings (rubber, not poly)without dropping/playing with the subframe. But I did have to grind down a wrench to fit in the narrow space. However, I worked on other cars where it was not possible to get my "mini wrench" in the space. Be prepared.

I am planning to install the BAT front bushings this weekend on my 95 SE. I am going to try to do it without lowering the subframe. Does anyone know if I will need a thin wrench to do it that way? If so what size would it be?
Thanks
