For the record, I used search laugh

Is there a way to adjust the reverse switch (the one in the transmission that turns on the reverse lights) in an MTX-75?

On my car ('96 SE MTX), the reverse lights come on when I put the car into reverse, but they turn off when I let out the clutch to back up.

Anybody out there know the answer to my question?

Thanks for the help.

Mike

The rev light switch is located on the trans 'tower' ontop of the trans under the hood.A 'cream' plastic switch,no adjustment, check the switch for operation with a multi meter,be sure the small screwed 'nipple' type bolt that operates it from the trans has not dropped off into the trans.

Since I received a private message about my question, I'll keep this one alive laugh .

Over the weekend I decided to clean my throttle body. While I had the intake hose and air filter off, I took a look at the top of the transmission. I didn't have time to pull the switch, but now I know what it looks like wink .

I'll post again when I know more.

terry --

how is it possible to see this 'nipple'?? i can see some kind of mechanism which touches a little round ball bearing which is part of the switch, but even with a flashlight there isn't much to look at in there.

also, is it OK to have some tranny oil in that compartment? my switch looked a little wet, but there was no fluid on the outside of the tranny, just inside that little compartment.
