I guess we're starting this thread back up... Well, I'm going to take my car to the dealer on the 26th. Mine dash is curled up so that it squeaks against the window when going over bumps. The defroster vent has also popped out on the passenger side. I didn't get what was meant by the 2 inches. Mine isn't as bad as some of you describe your dashes to be. Does that mean that they will install a kit? Anyone having problems after getting a kit installed?

Yes, it's said to be a common problem; mine is quiet in the summer and squeaky in cool/cold weather. Others have said that it's the swaybar bushing and can be lubricated by the dealer to fix it; I haven't done anything about it yet, but I have the dreaded dash disintegration too, so I'll have the squeak attended to at the same time.

I just bought my SVT last week and didn't notice any sign of my dash warping. I checked up by the window and in the glove box but it still seemed good. However my dash doesn't match the color of the rest of my interior (PT). Is this normal? It is a darker brown then the rest of the car.

Also, any suggestions on how to go about really checking to see if you have this? Or will you just know?

The dash on the Tan interiors are a darker brown. they match the console surround, not the a-pillar covers. at least that's how mine is.

If you don't notice any places raising up around the windshield, and if the defroster vent stays in place (without the help of super glue or epoxy,) then don't worry about it. you will know it when/if the dash starts separating.

Meanwhile enjoy the car

Good luck,
david

I took mine in yesterday to have a squeak around the a/c vent to the left of the steering wheel fixed, and low and behold, they did the whole dash replacement. eek

So far it seems good. Feels more solid. I used to be able to touch any part of the gauge pod and get a squeak. Not anymore.

Weird thing is, my defrost vents seemed fine. I hadn't noticed any separation.

How long does it usually take to get a new dash in after they order one?

I had my car in for service(checking electrical system) on a Sunday with no appointment(dropped it off after hours) and I got it back 3 days later with a new dash. While filling out the card thay provide for night drop, I decided to ask them to check my dash for warping since it was going to be there for a few days. My old dash must have been raised slightly by the defrost(I only discovered this after the new dash was installed and I saw that it was a little lower in that area). They must have had one lying around so they went ahead and replaced it. The only complaint was that it was really dusty and had no shine...but after putting on my usual protectant it looked identical to all of the other panels. It says on the invoice that it took them 3.7 hours to replace. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for that, since they charge $75 an hour for labor! eek One odd thing I did notice on my invoice...It says they replaced the instrument panel...is that normal? I wonder what was wrong with it? confused
