I meant to comment on this before, but always forget.
Has anyone caught a glimpse of the Virtual Spectator they show on Speedvision?
It's pretty damn cool, they have a virtual layout (CGIs naturally), of the Rally Stage and by using GPS and whatnot, they can trace the cars overtop of and next to each other as they have these CGI of the Rally cars flying through the stage! You can catch the mistakes and different lines they use as they tear through.
Very similar to the "Ghosting" they used during the Olympics and I think the First F1 race - but all Computer Generated (because of the terrain I'm sure).
Here's the blurb I got from an Email:
"Using GPS and other positioning technology, Virtual Spectator
reproduces the action of the WRC in a virtual environment. This means
we can do things that can never be done in the real world, such
as compare one driver against another! This concept is 3D Parallel
Racing, and is completely new to the world of rallying.
