For those of you who have the KKM true rev installed. When you stab the throttle does it make a quick hissing sound. It sounds as though there is a leak somewhere, but I can't find one. Any response would be appreciated Thanks,
J

I think the sound you are talking about is Normal. Mine makes it when at part throttle as well (took off the hood pad and hear it much better now). If you stab the throttle you should get a Whooossss sound (very techie I know). As long as you have checked the hoses around it to make sure they are tight I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, my KKM setup makes the sucky sucky noize. I've also noted a faint quasi-moosing when accelerating mildly. It probably always did this, but I recently removed the hood blanket thingy, so it's louder.

Before posting a new question on everyone's favorite subject, moosing, I did a search (as required by CEG bylaws) on the subject and I came across this post. The reason for my search was that I was really looking to find out if someone has stated what moosing sounds like. I just installed the KKM filter this morning and this hissing sound when hitting the throttle is what I am getting, so I guess a hissing noise would meaning the car is "snaking" not "moosing". I dont watch a lot of National Geographic, so how the heck am I suppossed to know what a moose sounds like? Im from the suburbs.
In regard to my snaking problem, I noticed the blue part of the KKM fits loosley in the round duct at the fender, I am wondering if a hose clamp (with some tape wrapped around the blue part of the filter to give it a bigger diameter, if need be) would help.
Hope to hear what the experts out there think.

The KKM provided hose never fits. Go to home depot and get a 3 inch to 4 inch rubber pipe adapter, 4 inch end goes to the fender well, 3 inch goes over the KKM. Home depot didn't have any of those, so a 4" straight through worked fine for me. It doesn't stop the noise, but it stops the KKM from flopping around and makes a working connection between the KKM and the fender well intake. If you really want to hear the noise, listen to the car idle when cold, hood open...and rev it up as well. The KKM produces alot of more desireable noises as well lol. Now the thing that bothers me is if I blip the throttle say waiting at a red light, or any stop and go situation, I hear a squeak...probably the TB I guess, sounds like something needs lubrication.

The Great One.
Good suggestion, I would try the connection with the rubber part, but if you did and it doesnt stop the hissing, then I guess it might not be worth it.

It's definitley worth it. If there is any air getting sucked in from the denfer well, it's being lost with the crappy KKM provided hose. I used to open the hood every day to check that it hadn't fallen out and got caught up in something. And, especially if it's on an SVT, that intake really has no support...and it does a good bit of flopping around. So even if i've only eliminated that, it was worth the $4 and change it cost for the part. Be warned, you'll have to cut the part you buy so there's no returning it. It's possible you've got air slipping through where the KKM hose meets the fenderwell and that's what's making the hiss. I can't say I haven't heard it. But, you're always going to hear a noise, the nature of the beast. It's a good idea, trust me
