Anybody run into this before? Is it the switch or the blower motor? Any help would be appreciated.

Had this on another car. The multi-position switch selects multiple series resistors which slow the motor, EXCEPT in the "high" position. If any of these resistors fail open, the blower will still run on high. I hope the resistors are not too pricey or hard to replace! smile

If it is not the resistors, it might have a relay that is out of whack. You should get the manual and follow the diagram to see if it does have a relay. smile

There is a service program on the switch. We had already replaced ours, and Ford mailed us a refund. I think its 99M03 but I'm not sure about that number.

There is 'like' a 6yr/100k mile WARRANTY on the blower relays and switches due to the recall. eek

I just went thru this this week. Their has been a recall on some blower motor parts,and/or switch. call the dealer before investing too much time. You can also check the resistor and connector located behind and down from the glove box- look for white plastic connectors and block. Also look for burnt wires. Hope this helps.

Thanks, everybody. I will check it out with the dealer and get under the dash and see what I can see. I'll post what I find out. Might be later in the week though, it's a busy weekend.

I checked with my dealer. They said there was no recall program on the '99 model year for this. I just received my Haynes manual, and the resistor pack is part of the blower motor assembly. I haven't yet checked with parts replacement to see if I can get the resistor pack separately. In any case, the replacement is a simple procedure, so I'm planning on doing it myself and not paying the dealer (except for parts).

Are they for real! I had the same problem and there is a extended waranty! Its not a recall! Its something like 99m03 or 07, but it does exist! The resistor/speed selector switch is under extended waranty if you fall in the 5 year, 70K miles (~120000 kms!)! Don't let them give you grief! Mine is a 98, but your symptoms are the same! Drop the glove box and reach in and it should be connected to the blower and located near there! If the resistor is done, it should be black and burnt! The connector might be burnt also!

My switch only works on the 3rd to highest setting. Sometimes not at all, and then when i turn it a few times it remembers it has to do something i guess because it starts working.

My car is at the dealer right now having that work done and will be ready tomorrow. Here is what my receipt says.

Recall# 99M06 Heater Blower Switch
Recall# 00S44 ENG Fan Electronic Fuse

Best of Luck
