Had my second race last night after school. I suck. Here's the story:
Pulled up to Kyrene off of Ray. Hit my blinker to go right when I noticed a tricked out 4-door Mazda or Nissan in the lane to my left (Custom paint, wheels, exhaust, etc). I knew this guy would play, so I turned off my blinker and pulled up next to him. The light turned green, and we were off! The launch wasn't bad - I pulled ahead by about a bumper. Went for second and missed. I gave him the chance to catch up. So now we're wheel to wheel. Finally I get it into second and floor it, managing to gain a little ground back. That is, until I bounce off the rev limiter. He gains that ground back. I get it into 3rd, but he's a bumper length ahead and I can't it back. So I keep trying and hit the rev limiter again. Now I'm pissed. At this point, I'm so frustrated, I just broke it off and turned on the next street.
Now I have some punk out there that thinks he's faster than an SVT. Sorry guys.
I now have a nemesis. I will find him. I will beat him. He will know I'm faster.

LMAO - I'm no expert, but DAMN!!! :p
Better luck next time...and remember, pay attention to those RPMs. I'm not too familiar with the SVTs powerband near redline, but I don't think bouncing off of or coming within 200 or 300 RPMs of it helps. By then you're HP is probably tapering off.

I seem to concentrate too much on the other car, and not on my RPM's. I'll have to work on that. Road and tach, not road and opponent.

Unfortunatly the CSVT redline is within the powerband. From 3800 rpm's and up, the motor pulls hard. It is really easy to pop off of the fuel cut-off. Next time try turning off the stereo and listen to the engine through the gears. It tells you when it is ready to go to the next gear. Listen carefully Grasshopper...

PoJay is right,
The powerband is excellent and you can't feel it taper off before you hit the rev limiter. I've hit it many times racing when I first got the car. With the new motor, I have to relearn the sound of the engine to tell when to shift.

Exactly, the SVT does not taper off and will happily pool way past the redline. The first time I bounced off the rev limiter my heart stopped for a full 10 seconds.
That was a hilarious story. Thanks for sharing.

I must say, it's a HELL of an adrenaline rush! I am afraid my wallet is going to suffer from the mods I need now. How much for that turbo?

Po'Jay affectionatly calls me the CDK or can't drive kid. I think I can hold my own but we need a track day to prove it. I looked into Bondurant once for us but it was $$$$$$$$$$$$.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
