Anyone have problems with your moonroof? Mine has stayed open twice and will not function until the car sits for a while. It seems to happen when its hot outside. I think the roof motor over heats or loses connection. I know that if I make a dealer appointment, it will work fine for them. Any TSB's?

My moonroof got stuck in the tilt open position. I pulled it apart myself, and found the cable that moves the moonroof was jammed against the drive motor cog. The cable rides in a plastic guide channel, which can flex, and cause the cable to move and get jammed against the cog. I took the cables out, and tried realigning the tracks a bit, and it hasn't jammed again since. I don't know if this is the same problem you have though, since mine was completely jammed and would not work no matter how long it sat.

On my 2000 SVT my moonroof stuck at 250 miles on the car. The dealer said that the new motor can get a dead spot in the motor itself and I fixed it myself by taking off the first cover and hitting the motor with the handle of a screwdriver. Just tap it a couple times on the bottom and it should be fine you might want to loosen the screws and then retighten them. The motor itself is weird for doing that but is a common problem with new moonroof motors on all cars.

So how'd you guys get to the motor? Where is the motor? do you have to take down the headliner?

Hey guys.

I have had this same problem with my moonroof. I have scheduled an appointment with my dealer of later this week. It happened on sunday when it as really hot. I left it alone and in the evening it worked again. I bet it overheated, but I'll mention to them about the wiring problem possibility.

Ok, to get to the motor. Look up and where the button for the moonroof is and where your lights are that is the cover. Peel away the front liner of you moonroof that is touching the cover then pull the cover towards you and it will pop off. Underneath is the motor. It isn't that hard to fix.

Ok, I figured out the problem myself. There is a small screw going into the front of the motor that once its loosened up a bit, it works fine. Just use a little loc-tite to make sure it doesn't vibrate out!

Update on ours: Took the cover off (don't forget the screws you need to remove first, after you pop out the lights assembly), and tapped on the motor. It worked, so I kept it going and completely retracted the roof. No problem, so I went to close it again and it "skipped" every few inches. After lubing the rails and inspecting the operation even further, it seems like a gear in the assembly is missing a tooth or something.

I noticed there's a receptacle for some kind of handle. Has anyone seen a manual sunroof? Is the bezel and handle available?

Anyway how hard is it to change the motor and if we do are we likely to fix this problem for the time being?
