Ray was a great man and a wonderful addition to this forum (I was onboard with the Email list for 2 years with Ray) He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family in this time of grief.

I knew as soon as I read the title! The other day someone mentioned "where is Ray" I knew! Well we have good guys and real good guys! WE will all miss you very much. He has also kept me updated with fixes to my car. I will miss him terribly. There has got to be something we can do to remember Ray. I never knew him personnally except for his informative posts. I hope you will join me in remebering him by placing a in memory of Ray card/letter in your back windows, so that all drivers will see the positive influence he has had on us!
P.S. I will also be driving with road lights off!

I can remember his posts...always helping people, and telling stories. He was truely a friend to all on this board, and will be missed.

Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis.

All of our thoughts and prayers go out to the McNairy Family. I personally never talked to Ray, but appreciated all the input and help that he contributed to the members. He will be missed but never forgotten.
God Bless from the Dallas CEG Group.
Lights on in memory of Ray(OF)McNairy.

This can't be!? I remember Ray from waaaaaay back, way before the boards and the mailing list... I'm very sad to hear this happen to such a nice guy. He will be very missed from the boards as he brought good humor and knowledge to the boards. My prayers go out to him and his family... Originally posted by litrbox: As some of you may know, Old Fart Emeritus, Ray McNairy, passed away this morning due to complications with cancer. He was a driving force behind making our cars the best they could be, and was always there to lend a helping hand. He also helped to moderate several of the forums. His humor and wisdom will be sorely missed.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

WOW!!!
I became active a littl over a year ago here in the contour forums. When no one would answer my newbie questions, OF would. He was a great source of knowledge and laughter. I feel as though I have lost a close friend, even though, I never met him in person. I would address questions to him and get a reply in short order. I didn't notice that he was gone. Sad to say the old cliche applies, " You never know what you've lost till its gone."
There will be black tape across my CEG sticker in memory of Ray.
May your passing take you to a better place.
Your may have passed from this life, but you will never be forgotten by the CEG.
We will miss you!
My heart felt sympathy goes to your family.

My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ray.
Wouldn't it be great if there were some sort of annual award to a CEG member. The Old Fart Emeritus Award, in memory of Ray McNairy. Perhaps given at a natioanl CEG meet for notable contribution to the CEG.
Just a thought on how to say thanks for all he's done and preserve his memory and good spirit.........

Millions long for immortality who do not know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon. ~ ~ Susan Ertz "Anger in the Sky" (1943)One look at the Old Fart's ****-eating grin and it's obvious he knew what to do with HIS weekends. This is how I'll remember Ray. Driving a mud-slung Contour like there was no tomorrow...sadly, this is now true. I wonder if they have mud in heaven as well?

I have known Ray since Aug. of 1998 when I bought my Tour and joined the original american list. I'd have to say that some of his knowledge of Contiques holds a place in side my head. I feel almost like I lost a family member even though we comunicated through these unpersonable boxes. That just goes to show what a personality Ray was and exuded through the many Contour lists. I will miss you Ray. And don't go tearing up heaven without us.

There will be black tape across my CEG sticker in memory of Ray. That's actually a grand idea! I think I'll go put a thin strip of black electrical tape across my CEG sticker as well. I say we all do the same. . .
