I just purchased a 2000 SVT with only 14000 miles and love the car. I have always wanted one since I first got to drive one in 98 when my new F-150 was in the shop.

The only complaint I have about the car is that the center armrest in the front is way to low. Can anyone tell me of a company that makes an aftermarket armrest that would raise it to a level that would be useful?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have not heard of a good looking (OEM) console for the newer Contours. I believe some of the early 95's or 96's had one but would probably require "cosmetic surgery" to install nicely. I did hear of one CEG'er simply taking the existing pad off the console and fitting a nicely made, fitted "spacer" to elevate it. That might be the easiest way.

if you do the console retrofit, you get a pretty nice armrest, but you lose the cupholders. Personally I get more utility out of the cupholders to hold other non-cup items...

I had the same complaint and added a spacer that I think looks allright. Just go to my web page and check it out. You wouldn't have to do it with wood but that is what worked for me. http://www.geocities.com/savinoss/Cars.html

Thanks for the info. I have had the car for a week and a half now and enjoy it more every mile I drive.
