Is anyone aware that the SVT Front Trans mount does NOT fit a 96 tour's sub frame? I bought the front and rear (I also bought the damn ES insert for the front!) and just tried fitting it on but the bolts on it are closer together then my stock one so it won't fit in the holes on the subframe!!!! I have NEVER seen any sort of "warning" or statement stating that they only fit 98+ tours! Have you?? Everything I have seen states 95-00 like here at spmotorsports Has anyone used the SVT FRONT mount on a pre-98?? To say I'm perplexed is an understatment! *EDIT* I took a quick pic of it to show what I mean. SEE!

I care. I just bought the same mount. I guess maybe new holes would have to be drilled (or maybe elongated).
I don't have time to install mine right now (too many other projects), but hopefully I will learn something by follwing this thread.
Good luck, keep the rest of us posted.

i've asked a few times and some have said that the mount does fit but i've really been under the impression that svt mounts wouldn't my car...i think older tours at least are stuck with stock mounts

FYI, none of the 98 and newer front mounts fit the pre 98's without modification. Knock out the studs, drill out the holes a bit more and reuse your stock hold down bolts. It's quite an easy material to drill out (new mount that is).

It's a cast aluminum (??) instead of the iron based one of pass years. It's a heck of a lot lighter too. We noticed that too as we were upgrading many of our customers mounts.

That looks nothing like the mount that I have. I had to elongate the holes in the SVT mount to make it work on my car. I know I've seen this posted as well becuase I ran into the same problem 2 years ago when I tried to install my SVT mount. You only need to open the holes a little bit to make it work.

I went the easy route and ordered a customer made front bumper from the link below - they are designed for pre 98 tours only...I just got the SVT skirts from a dealer in Vegas and the rear end from the junk yard for $300.00 in mint shape... Custom Made Pre98 SVT Front Bumbers

That mount looks exactly like the mount that I just bought from Bill Jenkins.
Does anybody have a good way to describe how much force it's going to take to remove the two studs? i don't want to break the cast aluminum.
Thanks.
