So on the old Contour's, they used to put a "24V DOHC" emblem on the side of the car, next to the driver and passanger front door. On mine, it says "SE." I bought a couple of "24V DOHC" emblems off of eBay, so can someone give me an idea of how to remove the "SE?" Thank you,

Jonathan

it should not be that hard from what i have heard. its kind of late so you might not get many answers now. in the meantime, you should try searching (top right corner). hope that might help! g/l

Put a rag around a flat head screwdriver, then pry carefully around the edge of the emblem. It'll come out easily, it's only held on by sticker.

That is what I did. Then you can peel off the old adhesive.

goo gone, dental floss, and a rag is all it took to get mine off... and my buddies v8 emblems off of his cougar.. soak the foam tape with goo-gone (put the top of the bottle against the car and just drizzle it down over the edge) let it sit for about 5 minutes, then saw it off with the dental floss / string / fishing line.... then soak the remnants and use a rag to wipe it away.

Check the width of the 24V emblems against the oval "SE" emblems. Remember that, at least on late Contours, there's an indentation and a hole under the "SE" emblem. You want to make sure the new emblem will cover everything...although I guess the only way to tell is to take the "SE" emblem off.

The current 24V emblems did cover the hole in my 99SE.

I replaced that silly looking SE badge with the "thin" 24V emblem seen on Duratec Taurus/Sable rides.

That "SE" is so lame looking! I can't believe that they quit putting the 24V emblems on! Which is why I bought these. It will be my first mod. Thanks for the help, guys.

I painted the SE red and put them inside the doors of the car. They cover those ghey "stereo" inprints on the speaker grilles.

Since you already got the emblems off, why don't you put in the side markers? My 99 Myst hads holes behind the emblems and it was an esy procedure to wire up the lights and pop them in.

Got all the info I needed from the Mods How To section off the CEG site. I went with single stage opperation ( turn signals only) and they work and look great. Simple mod, great looks!

Food for thought.

Cheers!
