What is the code on the computer? If it is 97BB-xxxxxx-xx then you MIGHT have a chance that the PATS systems are the same. If it says 98BB-xxxxxx-xx then you have to get a different PATS transponder (black ring around the ignition cyl). The PCM's made before late January 98 have a type "A" PATS system. This have an external PATS module that works in conjunction with the PCM. The ones made after January98 have a type "E" PATS system. This type has the entire PATS system inside the PCM.
If you have a 97BB-xxx... computer, you need to make sure the PATS light only flashes fast for a few minutes. If it flashes fast for a while, then starts to flash a code at you (1-6 maybe) then you will need to "obtain" additional parts to make it work.
If it ONLY flashes fast for a few minutes and does not throw a code, then all you have to do is take it to the Fr0d dealer and have them put the computer in learn mode. Make sure you bring ALL your keys, too. It takes about 10 minutes if you get a tech that is worthwhile.
Yes, there are MANY people not trying to steal cars for a living that are frustrated with PATS. I, for one, am.
