I have a 99 Mystique LS with the 2.5 duratec and the automatic transmission. Except for the stereo it is completelt stock. I have been looking for an aggressive body kit for over a year now, and am not pleased with any that I have seen so far. Anyways....I have a budget of 250 dollars, could go to 300. I am looking for the best possible performance mods to my mystique for that price. Any suggestions? I know only basic mechanic skills, however I have friends (that I trust) that could easily do more extensive mods. I have been thinking about putting an intake in it for a while now, but what else can I do for that price? All input would be helpful. Also I was wondering where the best place to find new guages? Also can the rear SVT bumper fit on the mystique, and if so where can I find one?

Cut out the resonator and replace it with a Magnaflow muffler or some other straight through muffler. Should be around $100, if your friends work cheap laugh

Have the middle muffler/resonator cut out from your exhaust. Then buy the KKM intake and you'll get about 9hp with those two added together.

Try the classifieds...you might get lucky and find a used SVT exhaust cheap.

i think the best performance mod ive done to date is the sho shop off road y pipe. could also gut your precats. u can get some indiglo style gauges from www.bnmotorsports.com and yes the svt rear bumper and side skirts will both fit your car.

There are body parts listed in the classifieds from time to time. Someone else mentioned SPmotorsports for ground effects kits. (Check the CEG links section.) A basic intake can be had for $100-200 depending on what parts you buy. Basic tools and common sense are about all thats needed for this. The links section lists a number of shops selling engine mod parts.
