Take a peek into my world of confusion. I am going to be installing this screen one of these days. Im gonna move the HVAC panel and drop a HU into a Pre98 console. Any suggestions/hints are apreciated.

Flip it down from the roof, maybe?
If not it probably will have to flip somehow.

It an Audiobahn AVM170Q 7" Active Matrix TFT-LCD Monitor With Headrest Mounting Kit 336.960 Dot/112.320 Pixels Viewing angles 65/65/40/65 Degrees (L/R/T/B) ON Screen Display Control for: Color, Tint, Btightness, Contrast and Mirror (L/R,U/D) Picture Mode select: 4:3 Full Mode, 4:3 Wide Mode, 4:3 Normal Mode, 16:9 Cinema Mode Full Size Wireless I/R Remote Control Two selectable Video inputs, switchable for Back-up camera with automatic reversed image NTSC/PAL Singnal detection Dimesions (W)193x(H)142x(D)41mm
As for installation we shall see about that. I have a couple of friends that are gonna help me out with that. Fiberglass Gurus they are. Cross your fingers. Probally wont hook up the reverse camera though, but cool to have that option.

- Take off trim panel - Relocate HVAC controls - Make dummy (wood) copy of screen - Chop trim panel and shape opening to suit dummy - Build up lower portion out of cardboard to support the fiber - Glass the whole thing - Take out dummy screen - Shape/grind/sand/fair/sand/fair - Test fit onto car - Paint - Install real screen from back with custom brackets, connect everything - Reinstall trim panel - Done ..Hehe, this is how I would do it.. Coming from someone who runs 2 x 10" subs in a fiberglass enclosure molded to the spare tire well, plus custom fiberglass amp and battery covers. Good project, I wish I was there to give a hand! Looks like fun!

I'd do it from the roof. No way would I try to move the HVAC, the wires and hose for that set-up are specific to the length of where they're at. Unless you have all day and a lot of paitence, I'd put it on the roof, and have it flip down. It'd still look good.

Problem with the roof is that the Sunroof and the motor are in the way. So you don't have much room there either.
Dave, You might want to try taking the LCD out of the enclosure and relocating the buttons to it as well. I think form the picture that would work.

There's already someone with a relocated HVAC control, so it can be done... I saw it at SZ!

It can be done, but I think the 7" screen will be too wide, maybe a 6.4 or 5.8 would fit better. With a earlier dash with the double din type opening their is enough room for a monitor (remove/replace ashtray and use the "pocket" for the screen and leave radio in factory spot. HVAC would not be effected.) You'll probably need a sheet of ABS or some matching vinyl to complete the job (maybe bondo the screen in place)
I would not do a flip down, it looks tacky, espcially infront or in place of your mirror. Good luck on the install, it will be sweet if done properly.
EDIT: There should be plenty of room in the pre98 dash even with the 7", remove the pockect, and cut out the plastic that use to be the ashtray. Put the screen in there, some shims and bondo (make sure you protect the screen) either sand smooth and paint to match the black texture, vinyl, or finish it with abs plastic.
