As the former owner of one very modified 88' 9000 Turbo I say "10"!! Saabs are cool cars. Make sure it's a turbo though!

Thanks guys for the input so far. Apparently i never really looked into the resale value issues and seems that most of you recommend leasing it so i'll have to find/work out the rates and all. But it makes sense if depreciation is so drastic! I should look into buying a demo-used or private-used if i'm purchasing.

I have yet to test drive the car since i need to wait until the saab dealership gets one in, but i'll just walk right next door to the Infiniti d'ship and check out another option that being the G35.

Main issues besides performance are (resale, reliability) confused Need to do more homework.

Again, thanks alot you guys. Much appreciate the comments.

you probably won't find much on reliability since the new 93 platform is completely redesigned, the same as used on the 2003 opel vectra. supposed to be a very solid platform. reliability really won't be an issue: we owned a 1990 900 (non-turbo) which was a complete dog, but very reliable until the front control arm rusted through and snapped. but comparing this car to our old saab is like apples and oranges, IMO.

as for the I35, that is a really really really nice car. i took one for an extended test drive in january and was just amazed at the power in that V6. the sound and feel were both awesome. if it weren't an automatic, it would be my next car. and [brown nose on] infiniti is a great company to deal with. from sale to service, their outfit is the best i have seen aside from the germans [/brown nose off]. i love my G20 and i would consider another one if i had the money to smack a turbo in there.

have fun test driving! laugh

I've had the pleasure of driving a Saab 9-5, and my God. The car was wonderful! There were so many tiny engineering touches and it literally glided down the interstate! Everything bespook quality, I would highly recommend getting this, it has much more charachter than the G35 smile

The 9-3 Viggen is something I'd like to have. Very sharp car. The nice thing about something like that is that its Rare. There are still plenty of m3's around but almost no Viggens.

There are fewer SVT Contours around than M3s which is why I still like the contour wink

I use to have a saab 9000 turbo. That is pritty much a saab 9-5 now. I LOVED THAT CAR!!! it was a really really really nice car. I know people that have always had saabs. They had alot of electical problems with only one of them for all of the years they owned them. They sold the one with electical problems and got a new saab. My saab was cool. It didn't have any problems. But then I got ahold of it. I was vary good to it but I got mad when a BMW would pull up and try to be all bad. I would just turn my system up and smoke them. I blew out the reverse and then all electical about 2 months later. total to fix them both was like 5K so I sold it for my car now. (sorry guys I own a Cougar, my friend has a contour so I joined up here to find out everything you can do to them) I thought the pics were of 9-5's also but if that is the new 9-3 buy it. I loved that car so much and want to buy another some day. The turbo is really nice to. I would give it a good 11 out of 10 if that is the new 9-3.

I love the Saab style currently (especially the front fascia) but this one has definitely got my attention. I would hate to be driving though and have to sift through ALL OF THOSE BUTTONS on the dash!!!!
