Have you looked into the Yo-dude pipe. It looks like a good unit.
The SHOShop catless Y-pipe uses a POS flex joint. Expect to have to replace it within a week.
Personally I think the Performance Fords unit is an decent idea gone very wrong.
Your best bet is to modify the stock unit.

Yeah, it's for V6's only and it's for the front part of the exhaust, not the rear.
PS I think that "that" y-pipe is a joke anyway.

I just went to yo dude's website http://www.yodudeperformance.com/home.asp I know somewhere I heard they sell parts that fit the contour. I was looking at the y pipes they have, and thing I like is the Y pipe with removable cat, sounds interesting. any how, the ones I saw at the site were listed as for a Cougar, but since the cougar and the contour share the same engine (2.5L V6) are the y pipes interchangable? They look the same as the ones for a contour. although a Yo Dude Y pipe is more pricey than a comperable Sho Shop unit, from the pics the yo dude seems to be better built. Anyone have any experiences with both units side by side to make comparisons?

Yo-dude is far from equal length. And the y just looks raspy.
I would not discount the performance fords pipe until we see dyno plots. At least the idea is sound.

I would not discount the performance fords pipe until we see dyno plots. At least the idea is sound. The Y-pipe does NOT need to be equal length. All it has to do is match the pulse widths. Also bends slow the pulse down so even Perf Ford's "equal" length pipes do not have equal flow/pulses. I.E. Just added weight & heat! I also don't see how you could say a Y-pipe "looks" raspy. (especially since all made use the same diameter (2") piping) I tried 3 different designs and it didn't change the rasp at all (all no cat) Between them they changed the tone and drone a little, but nothing major.
