I saw that once on my car. Just before the water pump died and the head gasket blew. Diffinately not a good sign, I would be scared to drive it much without finding out whats wrong.

Yeah I had the same problem with my Waterpump. 60,000 or so miles.

if you say the hood wasn't even hot check your sensors could be a grounding problem. Also how your starter doing does it ever have a probelm hanging? I haave all the guages peg in my mustang and it turned out to be the relay on the starter. Just some ideas.

That pic was taken with the engine off, but the key was on. Everything is functioning like it should, I am suspecting the coolant temp sensor.

Just so everyone knows what happened... The engine is fine. The ground for the guage cluster had come loose, causing faulty readings. :rolleyes:

That looks so much like my car, racing a GTI, when the water pump let go..
..Man, you 2.0 guys are lucky for that, one less scary thing to worry about!
