just curious if you are doing a shell painting or going balls to the wall and pulling the engine to paint the firewall, as well as doorjambs etc.?

should look real nice when done. imho i think you should lose the ghetto fuel door for this one, also what kind of rims do you have to go back on here? i think a set of 18" or 19" chromes ought to do this paint justice.

Kinda reminds me of that older Ford color Chameleon! They had it on Tbirds, Probes, and Windstars!

Wow!!!! A real paintbooth!! That's awesome! My dream garage will have the ability to have one section become a paint booth just for stuff like that. BTW, are you doing the headlights, too? Very awesome job. Can't wait to see pics of it in the sunlight.

You ARE coming to the CEG National Meet, right??? laugh

You are right, but one big difference. "Kameleon" colors (House of Kolor, Ford) only have one color shift. I believe the Probes used a purple-pink shift. Paint's like BASF's "Extreme" series (this one) and DuPont's "ChromaLusion" (which I have experience applying) have multiple shifts. Ford's "Mystic" Cobras used BASF paints, and subsequently had a purple base with green/blue/orange/red/yellow hues in proper sunlight at the correct angle.

And as for your comment, Chris, hopefully I will be able to make big enough bucks to be able to build a good spray booth too! That would be schweeeeeeeeeeet!

By far...He most likely paid close to $1800 just for the color alone! eek
Thats why my car was done in only pearl. Couldn't afford that color shifting stuff.

WOW Thanks for the props......
I have alot of time in this venture, and sence i am a paint & body man by trade i saved some BIG $`s.
I also installed the Eibachs. And rear disc conversion as well. And Chris i did use your how too to guide me through the headlamp blackout. THANKS.
And as far as the BASF paint it sells for $2300.00 per gallon. I used 2 quarts to spray under the hood, trunk and the door jams, and exterior but not the firewall.
Heres a link to how the car looked when i bought it and of the work in progress.

That paint is pretty expensive as well. I have Dupont Chromalusion on my car, and that ran me like $315 a pint. Thats just the color, not the activater, clear, or anything else. Absolute Purplean is color I have. It changes about seven different colors. Like you said pictures don't really do justice for color changing paint. Please post pics in natural sunlight when you get the car finished(I know, is a car ever finished.)

EXTREME LX, are you painting the front trim ring the same color? I think that would look awesome, I painted mine, granted its the stock T-red and i love it, I wish I had painted it earlier!
