Hello... I'm new to CEG and the forum and for that matter, new to car modifications in general... 32 years old but not done much with my cars in the past... my '95 Mystique is my first car to modify or be worthy of modifying...
I read in the fix it section about the copper pipe cap fix for overthrottle... not understanding fully, I still figured the mod worth a shot as it is so simple.... first I checked for parts on hand before going to buy a copper cap.... I found that I had a piece of hose 'NAPA fuel line PCV/EEC 3/8 inch 9.5mm' hose which would fit inside the plastic piece (forgive my ignorance of the tech terms) which comes out of the side of the intake accordian.... if I put a piece of that hose into the outlet side of that piece... the end which bends... put in enough hose to make it snug but not enough to block the "juice can"-shaped canister... cut it off to match the end of the plastic pipe and reconnect to the original hose.
I ended up with better shift timing on my automatic (it now shifts where should rather than late like it often did).
I know this sounds rather goofy, but I swear it made the shift performance better... also acceleration sounds beefier than it did before with the CTA intake......

Give it a try but do not block the access of air to the juice-can canister... my first try was to use the hose to bypass the canister completely... ended up with a groaning, sick-sounding car smile

'95 Mystique LS 2.5L auto
S&B filter (CTA Motorsports)
KEM Mag-Plus wires / Autolite Double-plat / Mobil 1 oil
7/32" throttle hang (still need to replace moose parts so it doesn't groan as often)
Fog light rewire
Stoners paint job on intake manifold and that famous plastic cover piece above the #4-6 plugs.
Barbaric intake resonater removal (too impatient to remove wheel well liner, so I yanked it all through the hole into the engine bay)
Replaced stock speakers with Pioneer 6855's and 6865's
CTA Motorsports stickers (thanks Chris)

BTW... this was relating to a '95 Mystique with 2.5L Duratec with AUTO transmission... I have no idea how this will affect an manual transmission....

You are right.. that is definitely "alternate" but follows the same theory. Way to pioneer... Glad to hear that it all went well for ya..

Get in there, and get your hands dirty... best way to learn. (the 'tiques are worthy of mods, fo' sho....)
