If you can't find it down below, you may be able to find it behind the instrument cluster. That's where the wire is going eventually (I'm looking at Hayne's wiring diagrams now).
As far as I can tell, that white/black wire originates from the "Electronic Control Unit," which I would take to be the computer. That's located in front of the firewall on the passenger side, but you can't get to any wires from inside (I believe me, I tried. And I managed to wring the computer's bolt off too, which called for replacing the bolt by hand
). So, you may be able to get to the wire on the engine side of the firewall.
Unfortunatly, the wiring diagrams don't show the harness that the wire comes through to get through the firewall. I suppose that is possible that the color of the wire changes once it enters the inside of the car. I know that the speaker wires are not the same throughout, at least on my car. So you could try other wires coming out of that green harness but you
do that at your own risk! Sorry, but I had to put that.
