It belongs to a Volvo S40... but gawsh, doesn't it look like you could drop a Duretec in there? smile What I'm getting at is, isn't the S40 built on the CDW27 platform?

I think the S40 is built on the Mitsubishi Lancer platform, I'm not 100% sure if it is the Lancer but it is definitely a Mitsu.

Since when does Volvo share with Mitsu when they are in bed with Ford? I thought Volvo was a stand alone company.

Built in Holland on a Mitsu platform...

Since it says only sold in Europe, I'd guess it's not the Lancer platform, but maybe they wrote that article before plans for the Lancer were made?

Go to www.ford.com, and you can defanately see that Ford owns Volvo (a link right on their page). I'm not sure that Ford owns anything in Mitsubishi?? confused

After Volvo's marriage with Peugeot (?) fell through, they did a joint development with Mitsubishi (S40 being the result). One of the reasons Volvo Cars courted the French and the Japanese, and then sold to Ford, was because they couldn't afford to develop new cars across the market range.

It's the Mitsu Carisma, not the Lancer. This deal was pre-Ford ownership.

Its build, as said before, in Born, however, NOT on a Mitsu platform. Comparable with the AutoAlliance plant in Michigan, where Cougars are build (626 and Cougar on one assembly line).

If you're curious, here's more info:
