Last weekend I bought myself a caulking gun and went to work on my car.
I started by applying a bead of silver GE silicone 2 around the cut outs in the trunk lid. Credit goes to Micah (aka Bumper Boy) for this idea. It reduced the trunk rattles caused by my 2 10 inchers to almost liveable levels. Plus that color is pretty nifty on a silver car.
Next I filled my rear motor mount with some black Flextra caulking material. 160% elongation should be plenty to keep it elastic, and it dries FAST, unlike urethane. If you apply enough pressure with the trigger, you can even get a nice bulge effect on the other side of the mount, which insures the beads won't go anywhere.
I do feel more vibration in the steering at about 1300rpms, but the tradeoff is sooo worth it. Power now goes to the wheels, instead of rocking the engine in the bay. The perfect complement to the front ES inserts.
