Hey all,
I've been wondering what this is for sometime now (thing circled in red). Can it be removed or is it a "vital" part of the intake system? It just seems like a waste of plastic and it makes the engine compartment look strange. Thanks!

The link is broken, no pic. Anywho if it's a plastic cylinder about 3-4" tall by 2" wide, it's the intake resonator and no it isn't necessary.

Sorry about the pic. It shows up on my computer. Anyway, if it's not needed, why is it there? If one were to remove it, what could be used to fill the gap between the hoses? Thanks again.

I believe it's there for the same reason your exhaust resonater is there, to reduce sound. You could use a plastic connecter to fill the gap (something like the one that connects the vaccum line to the accordian-style tube on the intake). Otherwise just head down to your local hardware store and get some 3/4"(I think) hose. There's really no point in eliminating it unless you need to.

Oh yeah buying a new hose would involve replacing the old stuff attached to the intake resonater.

If its what i think ur talking about, it is there for emissions mainly, but you can pass emissions without it! So just replace it!
