The B52 has been on display for about the last 20 years. About 7 years ago some vandals set it on fire near the cockpit. What you see is the repairs to the fuselage.

Due to the base being shut down before the vandals got to it, there was no money to fix it. A group of veterans got together and fixed it with their own time and money.

This plane is about 2 blocks from my house on what used to be Lowry Air Force base. The hanagar behind it is now a flight museum. FOr more info on Lowry see http://www.lowry.org
