I just got done takeing off the stock air filter box and air filter, I also removed the the mass air flow chamber and module, I connected a K&N connical filter directly to the black rubber tube or chamber that is directly connected to the throttle body. I took her for a spin and did find a noticable gain in pull almost the hole way through. Does anyone know of any bad side effects that would result from the removal of the MAF unit? The MAF looked very restrictive anyway. Tell me what you think?

how does the computer measure the amount of fuel to deliver if it's not measuring the amount of air coming in? I'm sure this is a bad thing....

So, let me get this straight. You removed the MAF from your rubber accordian tube and now the MAF harness is just sitting there, dangling in the enginebay? Are you stupid? Do you know why the MAF is there? If you are looking for a performance gain, switch to a bigger MAF, rather than no MAF at all. I am pretty sure you could destroy your engine this way.

That looks like a BS statement from your everyday 14yr old troll...I may be wrong...and in that case, I feel bad for this person's car.

But you can drive for a few minutes without a MAF and then the car will stall completely. As I did one day when I was installing stuff, and forgot to plug my MAF back in, and the car drove nicely, and then it all of a sudden quietly stalled. Then started again...drove and stalled again...

Oh well...

I heard that if you take the air filter ocmpletely off you'll have no intake air restriction...try that too

You car will not accelerate with out your MAF working. I know because I left mine unplugged one time and I couldn't get the car to accelerate above 3000 RPMs. It would almost die if I hit the throttle hard!
