Is there a difference between the SVT and Mystique steering rack or sterring system? I did a search and could not find the answer.

Thanks

I am not totally sure, but there is a difference in suspension pieces between the 14" and 15" wheel optioned cars. Since the SVT came with 16" wheels, it might make a bit of difference if you are exchanging the 14" suspension pieces. I know the 14" wheels wont even fit on my car without rubbing on the brake calipers. Got an extra set of "spare" wheels from the salvage yard for nothing...

The racks are essentually the same. The difference is that the SVT rack has different steering stops to accomodate the wider tires. The steering stops are built into the rack. Since many have SVT wheels and tires on their non SVT with little or no issues about rubbing at full steering lock, this may not be much of an issue. Decide for yourself.

...which makes the SVT Contour's turning radius equal to a 2000 Ford Explorer's at an atrocious 40 ft diameter!

Not that I really care, but I'm always surprised when trying to navigate tight parking spots.

Most cars the size of the Contour have turning radii about 4-5 ft less!
