I played around with one of these. Does anyone know haw fast these cars are? 0-60? top speed?

I got on the freeway today with one and he tried passing me on the on-ramp.

He never made it pass me but it was alot faster than I thought........

Depends on which model you were racing...the GS Spyder is only a 4 banger with 147 hp...the GT version is a 6 cylinder with 200 hp....I looked at these when buying my new car..way overproced for the performance they give out...my ZX2 has as much power as the 4 cylinder eclipses and it was a hell of alot cheaper. Either way I would think the eclipse was lighter then your car (if you have a contour?). lol Once again Ford proves the imports wrong..

if it was the old style eclipse (rouded, says eclipse on the rear betweenbrake lights), there is only the 4cylinder motor. The new style (200-2001?) are the only one's that sport a v6, those are 200 HP, but from what I understand they are heavier and not faster....just what I read here once. Oh, and FYI the old style gs-t has 210 hp from a turbo 4 cyl, but never came in convertible I don't think.

Just bought one 2 months ago for the wife. It's a GS hardtop (not spyder). Contour97GL is right about the power specs. Surprisingly quick with only 147hp. The best part is the sportronic transmission. Flick the shifter to the right one notch and it's a manusal with no clutch. She had a '93 Tracer so you can imagine how much she loves it. Autostick..Manumatic or whatever they call it.. Doesn't beat 5 speed..lol Anyhow - They are pretty quick.. But won't beat an SVT because of the extra weight from the convertible top. Nice car though!

We got on at the E. 55th entrance and he was pretty close behind untill the 71 / 176 split. I looked at my speed and it was 137 but he had to slam on the brakes for the turn. I'm use to the turn left him way behind but other wise he was there with me. There was only one other car on the freeway that early so ... safe as could be.... just another experience....
