It's a 5 volt resistor placed in the power line of the air temperature sensor that is located just before the throttle body in the intake. It adjusts the fuel flow accordingly to give the correct amount of fuel to the engine when it is running at high rpms. This is accomplished by "fooling" the computer by making it believe the air temperature is 20 degrees cooler than it actually is. You see Ford, being as conservative about the environment as they always are have starved our engines of the fuel that they need when they need it most, therefore cutting into our fun. This mod causes a huge gain in power over 4000 rpm and costs only $.20. Thanks to Dom for the idea and the part to do it by the way. :p

Hehe... actually it's a 5.6Kohm resistor placed in the 5volt signal return line to the computer... But yes.. It does do some amazing things on the top end. Dom

So where is the how to? Or is this a secret Cardoc mod.. Also, I need clarification.. You are telling me that Ford runs our engines on the LEAN side at high RPMs? That is scary. After this mod, is power lost anywhere else in the RPM band? Later, Patrick

I finally got off my lazy butt and did this. I didnt notice any difference in the lower rpm's, And, since I am pretty much grandpa, I dont take it too high in the rpm's either....but the few times I did, it pulled pretty good.
Thanks Dom
BTW, working on putting the new exhaust pipes Got all my Hardware, and just need to find the time to put it in.

Ok... I'll be perfectly frank when I say that it doesn't have the same effect on the non-SVT engines as it does on mine. This was a study and it has yielded some interesting results.. More based on the fact of the way the SVT fuel mixture is controlled and also the mean enrichment on full acceleration.. I have a ton of ideas right now and I'm in the process of procuring parts for a little minor intake overhaul shortly.. Including injectors.. So stay tuned.. You never know what you'll read about next.. And BTW.. I did get the ok to bring the Viper to the meet.. But do I really want to is the question..lol Hmm 1997 with 9,000 miles on it.. HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!! Dom
