This is not for a Contique, Sorry, but I have a friend that owns a Mazda Protege (1999, 1.6L). He has got 177k on the clock and needs to replace his O2 sensors (2) but the only place to get them here is the dealer at $396+ a pop. Over 800 bucks for O2 sensors. Obviously my friend doesnt want to pay this if he doesnt have to, is anyone aware of a place where we may be able to get these parts cheaper (Net or other). TIA everyone

You may be able to use a universal O2 sensor..this requires splicing wires to the connector off of the old O2 sensor.

Try www.oxygensensors.com - they have 3 wire universals for $40 and 4 wire for $50.

WTF ??????? ~$400 for a sensor. And there was I thinking that it was only the semiconductor parts industry that takes the pee when it comes to pricing.

That is extortion.

1-800-876-3280 is his phone number. That's generally the best way to get ahold of him.

I checked the oxygensensor website and it said that nothing was available for a 1999 Mazda. I don't know if this means they don't recommend using their sensor or what. I will try Bill next week as I will be going out of town this week. Thanks again for all the reponses everyone!
