My brother wants to buy a new car, he's looking to spend in the neighborhood of $25k +/-. It's gotta be a car, should have 4 doors, prefers Automatic tranny, and a decent amount of power. My recommendations so far are an IS300, and a 3.2 TL Type S. I can get the Acura from a friend who works at a dealership for about $27k, and I'm assuming similar for the Lexus. What my brother has looked at so far is: Impala LS with sport pack, and Grand Prix GT. Grand Prix came out to $20k, and Impala came out to $24k. What do you guys suggest?

I suggest taking a serious look at the WRX Wagon - my wife's been driving an Outback Sport for 4 years now. It gets a lot of approving looks from the young and surfer crowds. I love the handling (we got it when I had the Stealth RT; it was the closest and most fun handling than anything else we looked at and still is) and the five door hatch holds tons of stuff. Much more useful than the WRX Sedan. 5dr Wgn WRX Sport Auto $24,495.00 Retail The TS 2.5 Wagon is less, slower, but still a good choice. http://www.stevelewis.subarudealer.com/Common_inc/images/specs_WRXwagon.jpg

Hell yeah, my girlfriend has an 2002 Outback Sport (didn't want to pay the extra thousands for the WRX but also wanted a step up from the base Impreza model) and it's a great car. It's sporty yet rugged and still has the Impreza styling. If I were ever to get a WRX though, it would definitely be the wagon.

New or Used?
Altima or Maxima can be had for $25k. Used M3's can too.

As far as new goes, that can get you into WRX as said many times, a GTI 337 (if there are any left), stratus r/t... What kind of cars is he into? Sounds from what he is shopping boring GM iron is his thing :p

Hey I personally like like new Impala's with the sport package. They have one at Dale Earnhart Chevrolet and it is Kick ass. Lowered, aftermarket wheels, everything that you could want but the base Impalas suck in styling but this one made me take a second look. Dan

He doesn't want anything real high performance, ie M3 or such. Just wants a good all around car, with a good amount of power. Now that I think about it, the Maxima might also be a good choice. Or possibly even the 3.5 Altima as well. The GLI is too small for him, and as far as the WRX Wagon...he doesn't want a wagon. I'm gonna tell him to check out the Nissans for now also...I totally forgot about those 2 options. Thanks for the input guys!

All around good car, Camry SE V6 Great resale value and no maintenance issues. Next up would be the Altima or Maxima by Nissan. Or a stripped G35 for 27K
