The whole reason I got into this business is to help/protect people and to mantain a good way of life for all, and every day I have to deal with threats to my life, my family's life, and threats to my friends lives. In a perfect world, police would not have to carry guns, wear ballistic clothing, or worry about the people they know and love just for doing the job they do. This just shows what kind of society we live in today. This will never be a perfect world and I will have to continue to attend these sad memorials to honor those who have gave their lives to help others. No one looks past the job of a police officer besides writing tickets and the bad officers who have their heads up their a$$es that the press just loves to eat up. Overall the majority of cops, just as I, have sworn to do a duty that very few will do, to provide a better place for all, and to provide equal, reasonable justice for everyone who fails to abide by the rules. Laws we made not to punish people, but to protect people, citizens and criminals alike, to maintain a balanced, controlled way of life. Imagine a world without laws and government, I wouldn't want to live in a world like that. I love being a cop, but I hate being a cop at the same time because no matter what, we are always labeled as cops, and in todays world, no one seems to like cops.
