-I don't use XP
-People have hacked the activation timebomb out of XP, and did it quite early. I am sure the best crackers in the world will have this problem fixed in no time.
- If microshaft charged reasonable amounts of money for their software they would probably have more customers. It's almost as if they are encouraging piracy by having insane prices.

MS sez (in private) that they charge so much just to offset the losses related to illegal redistribution they can't control i.e. India, China, Russia, etc... if this is fair, you have to decide for yourself

I've done some research on SP1. From what I have found, if you have an illegal copy of XP using certain leaked key codes, SP1 will only keep you from downloading the SP and further updates. It will not report you.
