It's for the best. They've agreed that they have just grown apart over the years and it is in their best interest to part ways. They have patched up their relationship to the point that they can remain friends to each other so I'm glad.  They've already spoken to a lawyer and have gotten the wheels rolling. It's going to be one of the cleanest divorces I've ever heard of. No fighting, no pointing fingers, Mom gets the house and the car. Dad gets to keep his retirement benefits. No bickering. I'm not saying that I wouldn't have liked for them to stay together, but I wouldn't want them to do that just for my peace of mind. I have a relationship with both of them, so even though they are parting ways, I will still keep in touch with both of them.

i don't think ive ever heard of a "good" divorce. it's good they are on good terms though.

But you still have both of them. Cherish them. Help them get through this. My mother died 32 years ago, and my father 24 years ago. I miss them. Still.

Parents have been divorced since I was born...my dad cheated on my mom while she was in the hosp. having me...PLUS he was a leach...my mom's a doctor so he figured that since SHE makes good money, he didnt have to work, soo he decided to buy a brand new Toyota without even telling my mom (he wasnt working) so they got divorced, my dad got married to the person he cheated with (she has been married 3 times before, and has 3 kids, plus the 2 with my dad) and he got a job as a cop, and in 1994, he was shot and killed by a drunk indian  then his family came to my mom and I to pay for the funeral... :rolleyes: but anyway, my mom's happy, I'm happy, and last we heard, his widdow was on welfare :p Now do you see what can happen if you cheat on your wife? She'll live happily ever after :p

My parents never got divorced, but they always fought so that's not saying we were any better off. Than dad passed on and things got a whole lot worse. Anyway, glad to hear everyone is happy about it

i wish ya guys the best of luck! =) I agree that I've never heard of a "good" divorce. My parents got a divorce three years ago after 23 years of marraige. It sucked for everybody all the way around. I'm sorry to hear about it and I hope that everything turns our for the better.
