Well, I just got a speeding ticket. frown Sheriff deputy says he clocked me at 68 in a 55, but I saw 62 when I looked down as soon as we passed each other coming over a hill. There was a truck and trailer next to me going the same speed, if not faster. The truck did nearly lock up the brakes to slow down, but only after the officer passed. I didn't realize the limit was 55 so I kept going.

I don't know if he clocked the truck or what, but I know for sure I wasn't going 68. Hell, I was in my Aspire! It can barely hit 70! I need to know how to keep this thing off my record and, if possible, not pay it ($108). If the citation does go on my record, my insurance will go up and I could lose my job (loss of worker's insurance). Any help is greatly appreciated!

Go to court, plead not guilty. When you go up there, ask the officer if he noticed the truck with trailer in the lane next to yours when he clocked you. (Right now you should be writing down all info that you remember from this truck.) If he says yes, ask him if it is possible that your radar registered off of him instead of you.....pretty obvious answer there...
I've gotten out of a ticket in a similar situation...the cop actually told me there at the side of the road that he clocked me at 70 in a 55, but there was another car next to me, and there was no way to know which one he got (I was passing the other car).

Good luck!

Also if you want to really be a dick- you could request to see the deputies FCC license to operate the radar gun- and the daily maintenence logs for such gun and the daily "tuning" tesat required before the begining of use for the day.
there are a lot of things that you can get a loop hole out of tickets- but the best way I know how to gewt out of a tivket is not to speed- having said this- (the above helped me once or twice)

the above is good advice. i have a buddy that is a delivery driver and that's how he gets out of tickets. also, look on th eticket, sometimes they show the dates that the officer will be in court. keep delaying until your court date isn't one of his, he can't testify so you get off on a technicallity. he has a book that shows tons of ways to get out of tickets of every kind. plus, you could also argue that you weren't driving recklessly but just staying with the flow of traffic.

I've gotten plenty of tickets but I have never had my insurance rates go up.

If logic ruled the courts, the judge would see you were in an Aspire and laugh! laugh

If nothing else works, Prosecutor or judge might take a plea for no points.

Wow, thanks for all the help guys. I am pretty sure I can do the plea thing and keep the ticket off my record, and I don't mind paying it, but I really can't afford the insurance rates going up. I have heard a lot of people say to plead "not guilty" and request a few continueances, that way the officer may not show. Will that really work?

I'm not going to worry myself sick over it, but it is bugging me. I was all motivated and in a good mood this morning, and this just took the wind right outta my sails. shocked

On a happier note, I'm towing my Contour to the tranny shop tomorrow and I should have it back by Thursday. I can't wait any longer, it's been 3 months already!! laugh
