Today was the first real climbing test in this years Tour de France and Lance Armstrong and his U.S. Postal Service teamate Roberto Heras rode everyone except 2nd place Joseba Beloki off their wheel to assume the lead of the worlds toughest bike race. Lance and his team are now in a position to control the race over the next 5 days of hard climbing. Could he win a 4th straight Tour de France? Don't bet against him is all I'll say... For those looking to keep up with all the info Outdoor Life Network is showing two hours of live coverage every morning with several replays during the rest of the day. Or you can check these sights out: Velonews TDF site www.cyclingnews.com GO LANCE! GO LANCE! GO LANCE!

If you look here , you'll see today's stage profile. Take a look at that first climb - 1200 meters up in 30k (about .75 miles up in 18 miles linear). And if you read here , you get a play-by-play of today's stage. He just poured it on in the last 5 miles. Amazing.

There goes Lance, ruining my excuse to not workout.
I can no longer tell my wife that the "loss of my boy" to cancer and the Chemo has dimished my aerobic capacity.
Thanks Lance
Seriously, I think it is a great testament to what you can accomplish, even when bad things happen to you.

Tour de Lance! He is so awesome. I loved living in the same town as him. Don't get me wrong... hated Austin, loved Lance!

Once again, Lance and Co. have dominated a very tough mountain climbing stage. The team rode tempo at the front until it was time for Lance to take matters into his own hands. He broke away from the main contenders and has shown them to only be pretenders. He won the stage by over 1 minute and now leads 2nd place man Joseba Beloki by 2:28 There are three more hard days of climbing to come as the scene switches from the Pyranies to the Alps. Anything can happen in the mountains, but I bet Lance can cover any attacks against his position.
