There are more quotes on this site from Pat Buchanan than from Martin Luthor King and Ghandi combined. Why is that?

Why is everybody on this site so damn conservative? Where my people at who really know whats going on? How come you'all never speak out? I'm tired of all this ignorance coming from a group of people who I respect, and have at least one important thing in common with.
When it comes to any topic concerning public policy, both foreign and domestic, everybody just regurgitates the same old “lets get our guns and enforce the American dream” Doesn't anybody care about the long term effects of our corporate and social manifest destiny mentalities? Our disposable, consumer society is ruining the planet and hundreds of cultures around the world. Our Police forces REGULARLY violate citizens civil rights, plants evidence to fill quotas, abuse their above-the-law- position. One small example is that here in Chicago, you often see black and white checkered bands hanging from peoples rear view mirrors. This band goes around their patrol hats. They (or their family members) are off-duty officers who, effectively, are above traffic laws. That isn't right. The police forces however, are the strong arm of a justice system that is racially prejudiced, corrupt, and just doesn't care that they are. As far as Mexicans coming illegally to this country and “spending your tax dollar” The vast majority of people come over here to WORK. They get paid nothing, and boost the bottom line of companies that YOU have stock in. so there. There's your tax dollar back. And what about those who have a simply cured diseaze, but end up in a terrible situation because they were afraid to go to the local medical clinic because they didn't want to be deported and separated from their family? Apply legally you say? The INS doesn't accept everybody. If you file one of dozens of forms late, sorry, no USA for you. You have to have family already here petition for you, claim political asylum, or qualify through a few different obscure qualifications. This Self righteous attitude is exactly what is WRONG with this country. This prosperity that we as a country are experiencing is a result of the pillaging of natural resources and ruthless international aggression, and is kept alive through a vampire like neo-global economy that the US controls. No, our prosperity came from diligence and hard work, you say? you don't think that Mexican Nationals don't know about hard work? You think that children are working 14 hour days in east Asia, stitching up YOUR (and my) Nike Airs just to pass the time? Basically, everybody's willing to cash in on the prosperity our government and economic system is providing us, but when it comes to acknowledging, even just looking at the worldwide effects, everybody's got their back turned, or pointing to somebody else. I love this country too, and that's why it hurts to see us doing all of these terrible things for our own self gain.

Cops acted the same way back in the 40's, 50's, and so on......
Mexicans aren't the only people that come to the U.S. There are arabs, Indians, Asian's and more.
There is nothing you can say or do to stop them, Who else is gonna wash dishes or drive you somewhere or make clothes for you.

This is most inportant ok.....The government is the MOST CORRUPT organized crime family out there, and there is nothing you can say or do about it.

My two cents

A free market economy allows the most opportunity for the most people. When trust is taken advantage of then things go bad for everyone (Enron/Worldscam).

What "worldwide effects" are you talking about?

I think we should fix our own problems before worrying about fixing everyone else's.

Out of everything you brought up, the only one I even care to comment on are the illegal aliens.

My wife is from the Philippines. Her ex was in the Navy. They got married, first got stationed in Guam and then back in Cali. She applied for citizenship as soon as she could. She passed. Soon after, she petitioned her mother. Something like six years later she was approved to come here. She petitioned for her father. He just got here late last year.

I came along in the end of her ordeal w/ her mom and most of the ordeal w/ her dad. I've seen the INS screw around w/ paperwork, claim the wrong form was filed, etc. I know it's a pain in the ass. But you know what? She did it legally. She jumped through all the hoops they asked her to and then some.

Why should I feel sorry for illegal immigrants that don't feel the need to do the same? I won't. If they have healthcare problems, why should I weep for them? Maybe they should've planned ahead for something like that.

Why does it matter if they are dead or not? What they stood for is STILL being fought for right now.

My thoughts from the "FAR RIGHT"

Why does it have to be a CONSERVATIVE=EVIL and LIBERAL=GOOD argument.

You can look at leaders from both sides of the political spectrum and see the corruption.

I'm all for immigration, but only LEGAL immigration. If you are sneaking in, you only have basic human rights and constituional protections.

Not one of us, citizen or otherwise has a constitutional right to "Cradle to Grave" social care. It just is not in the constitiution.

However, the role of the Federal Government, should not be to run the wealth re-distrubition system it has become. Instead, the Federal Government should ONLY be responsible for

A) National Defense
B) Foreign Policy
C) Constitutional Defense (aka DOJ/FBI)

That is all. No medicare, no welfare, no DOT, no EIEIO. If the states want to do this, then let them, but get Uncle Sam out of the wealth re-distribution business.

If the Federal Government wants to tax me, then by God, I have the constitutional right to help decide who benefits from my tax money.

Immigration is simply a vote grab. Who benefits more from low income naturalized immigrants, the Democrats or the Republicans?

Does that make me evil because I feel this way? Do you characterize this as hateful? Well if you think I'm evil and hateful, you don't know me very well, or have a weak argument and must resort to attacking me instead of my reasoning. (Which is a sure sign of a weak position, or weak argument.)

Sure, immigrants work very hard at jobs that others who were born here would not do. Why? Partially because we make it too easy for those already legally here to live off the dole.

You getting that welfare check, get out there and clean the parks, interstates, cut the grass at the capitol, answer phones, whatever.

America is becoming the land of the "Free Lunch" for many people.

Those of us who are working and losing 50% of what we make to various and sundry taxes are getting fed up with it. We cannot continue to pull the cart if more folks keep getting in, instead of pulling it.

I have no hatred for immigrants, but rather have distain for those able bodied, regardless of color, gender or political affiliation, want to only ride in the cart.

I feel sorry for America. We are becoming soft and irresponsible. No one can be held responsible for the decisions they make anymore. Burn yourself on a coffee cup, get millions from McDonalds, they shouldn't serve hot coffee.

Government never fixes problems, they only manage them. Why, because to fix them means a bueracrat will put himself out of work.

I have thought about it, and looked at it. I don't like what I see. I don't like the direction the nation is going. I don't like that the people "accept" corrupt leaders in any arena, business or politics.

Just a few more thoughts.

Conspicous consumption, is by no means limited to political conservatives. In fact, at least in the circles I travel in, conservatives are NOT into conspicous consumption. Heck, I drive a 5 year old Contour and a 16 year old Buick. My wife has a small minivan, instead of a behemouth SUV. So I resent the insinuation that rampant consumption is the product of the conservatives amongst us.

If you believe that, then you will have to also agree that the left leaners in pop culture have been the puppets of the conservative right. After all, who do we generally see in all the ads for fashion, food and makeup, Elizabeth Dole or Elizabeth Hurley (I don't think she leans to the right?) If you believe this, then you must believe that all of the left leaning directors in Hollywood have been bamboozled by those on the right in terms of strategic product placements, promoting even more wanton consumerism.

And to think that many on the left characterize us on the right as uneducated and unintelligent.

No my friends, I think the problems America faces are because we want to blame others and look to others (including illegal immigrants) as the causes or solutions to our problems.

Too many (even many who claim to be Democrats) are failing to follow the lead of JFK, when he asked, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country."

Enjoy the prosperity while you can, because I predict it will be short lived, if Americans continue the trend of shirking responsiblity, shifting blame and the demonization of those who don't believe the same way you do.

These are truths for both the left and the right.

We should learn from previous civilizations such as the Greeks or Romans that wielded much power. When the culture becomes obsessed with self above others, my rights, others be damned, the civilization begins to rot from the inside and becomes easily defeated from the enemys of that culture.

This truth is the same, regardless of the color of your skin, the gender of your leadership, or the direction of your political machine.
