Most of the car rags have had a review of the Euro 4 cyl car... nothing on the V6 yet, AFAIK.

Several facts in the article are incorrect on the car's history, but other than that, it was a good review. I have also seen a lot of information which indicates Mazda is going to hold the line on price, having it some out similarly to the current 626's, and that you'd have to load one to the hilt to get it over $25,000.
The corrections: The "1st generation" they are quoting really was at least a second generation, and debuted for the 1984 model year. They also missed the early 1990's redesign that was still directly in the spirit of Zoom Zoom...

You're right. I remember the 1993 Mazda 626 ES-V6 was a hot little number. 164 hp DOHC 24V quad-cam V6 with a tight suspension, 5 speed manual, 4 wheel discs, available leather seating, moonroof, alloys with 205/55VR15 summer tires.
Also very smooth modern styling (still looks good today) and I think it was Car and Driver that rated it #1 in a comparo versus Camry and Accord.
Then it was all downhill for the 626.
