I just purchased a new camcorder the other day...JVC's GR-DVL820U. I think this is my wife's last step in becoming a soccer mom wink

I now need a firewire kit to move the images to the pc. I am basically looking to create MPEG files and move the videos from tape to CD. Also, keep in mind I will need the entire kit, including the pc card.

I'm a nubie in the camcorder world...any recommendations would be appreciated. laugh

I used a "Dazzle" set up I bought from Sears. $99. Came with a three port 1394 (FireWire) PCI card and U-Lead Video Studio 4.

Just a note, Dig. Vid. is time consuming and you need lots of HD space and fast processing. When I had a 500Mhx P3 it took an hour to convert 7 minutes of DV to an AVI. My 1000Mhx does it in 1/2 hour.

A 1 hour vdeo takes an hour to load (limited by speed of Camcorder).

I like it, but it is very time consuming.

I bought a 60G drive just for the space. IIRC, it took about 100Meg/minute, ie 10 minutes is 1Gig.

Have Fun....Really....I still like it.

Pinncale studios I believe has a kit for $100 or so that comes with the card, don't remember the exact name of it however.
