driver was nice enough to ride beside me for several miles and let me admire it but would not actually look in my direction to recieve a thumbs up...got in front of me and sped up to about 90 and i followed pretending my car could keep up after awhile he slowed down and i went around and stared in awe some more than went about my way

is it just me or does that thing look like a rolls royce (sp?)

0-60 in 5.3 seconds.... on a stock engine now thats what im talkin about!

Now we just gotta stuff that drivetrain in an LS and really scare the hell out of some ppl

C&D tested one in Europe before it was released; disappointed, I believe, because:

a) no stick available, hence, can't run with a M5,

and

b) shift points on the tranz were off; wasn't shifting at peak horse-power.

Remainder of the article said a re-test was in order- (I guess that's the problem with previews).

BUT- in EVO magazine, the Jag beat out the M5 in a comparo!

sounds to me like an S4, which you could've gotten for like $20K less.....

I don't think Jaguar's customers are looking at driving around in a 5.3 sec 0-60 '88 Mazda GTX either, for a whopping 50k$ less..

..People that can afford these cars have no interest whatsoever in getting their bottoms into an S4. Jaguar is going after BMW's M5 customers here.. ..and they're doing quite well IMO.

i totally agree..jaguar is going after the big guys like the m-5,a person that is likely to buy this jag isn't looking to find the cheapest 0-60 car with leather..jaguar is gunning for the top with this one,and i'd say it has a very nice vehicle,to try with..there is a good write up in the july issue of motor trend of this jag,and i must say i'm impressed with it...my wife currently owns(notice i say my wife,cause she never lets me drive it)a 92 xj6,and while its no s-type,i must say that it is one of the smoothest,roomiest,and most pleasant driving cars i've been in...i would love to own a new s-type...but i don't think i'll ever be able to afford one,but one can dream....
