Ever think that the curb stops people from hitting the pump ?? I see high curbs everywhere at gas stations...

Ditto. It's the section we used to find rattles & squeaks while car shopping at the lots just down the road...one we otherwise avoid like the plague.

Even if it was pure stupidity, I wouldn't wish the results on anyone. Parents shouldn't have to bury their teenagers.

While I agree and my heart goes out to them, WTF are kids doing out at this hour anyways?
I'm not one for marshall law or anything, but too many kids out after anyplace they need to be is open.
Expensive lesson, but I hope somebody out there has learned it!

Before the flames fly, let me re-iterate that I do have deep sympathy for the families and friends of these children.

Hopefully they are thankful that unrelated people weren't hurt also.

Common sense is in short supply with today's youth. Never occured to me when I was young to drive like a bat out of hell on a donut.

Parents need to teach their kids a little sense. Of course, the parents have none when the kids are out all hours of the night. Good grief.

I have no sympathy for the driver, if you're that dumb, you almost deserve it.

The passangers I have a little more sympathy for, as they weren't in direct control of the vehicle, however they should have had enough common sense to force the driver to slow down and should have been wearing their seatbelts.

I drove like a real moron when I was a teen (not too long ago) when I had a flat on my car and had the donut on for 2 days I knew better than to exceed the speed limit on the tire, you don't have to be a genius to have common sense

The pic of the car's remains... Its hard to even tell what part of the car it was!

It is very horrible that this happened. My cousin was killed in an accident when he was 16. They were wearing their seatbelts too. The early `80s Trecel was rearended by a `burban. Without headrests, my cousin's neck snapped instantly. frown

I don't understand driving on a spare for any purpose other than getting to work/school or to get real tire on. I thought a guy driving on spare at 80mph waz stupid, but man, some teens don't think. I believe there needs to be more driver's education for all ages. In georgia we now have to have 30 hours class time and 10+ driving or something like that. No non-family members for first 6 months and no driving after 12pm, and a strict point system.
