Also, check the hp figures for both cars at the wheels... They are about equal...

Don't quote me but I think it is around the 178 mark... Their real advantage is a fairly flat torque curve. They seem to have torque at every RPM... Some believe the new 201 rating is a lower-than-actual rating. I would like to see someone's dyno on a stock VR6 24 valve...

[[Frown]] 12V VR6 typically makes 145FWHP & about 155 tourque stock at the wheels. typical mods get them up to 155-160 HP max. Very similar to stock duratec. The engine in a light (2800 lb) GTi makes it equal to an SVT or faster but in a Jetta (3020 lbs) it a bit slower. Adding 30 HP and probably little or no torque, the gti will quite quick, the Jetta will equal to slightly faster than SVT. Be forewarned.

From VW.com on the Jetta GLI Technical Brakes ABS (anti-lock braking system) Emissions OBD II Engine 2.8L 200 hp, 195 lb-ft torque, 6 cylinder VR6, 15-degree V, gas Steering Power-assisted rack and pinion steering Suspension Front and rear gas shock absorbers Independent front McPherson struts, stabilizer bar Independent track correcting torsion beam rear axle with integrated stabilizer bar Sport suspension Transmission 6-speed manual transmission
That's a SVT killer if there ever was one.
