Well, tomorrow I'm meeting with a recruitment officer from the Army. Anyone have any questions, that they feel would be helpful for me to ask? I've got a few of them written down. Do you guys think he'll mind if I write em down and bring em in? -A

1) What are my options if I want out? 2) Can I get that in writing?
Good luck, I hope you're one of the guys that find Army life pleasurable.

Why would he mind if you write down some questions? I think he'll be tickled pink if you actually show up. I've heard that they have about a 50% no-show rate (Or at least did before 9-11)... If he is shady about anything, go to a different recruiter.

fyi, anything he promises you, get it in writing from him before signing up. I've known too many shady recruiters that will promise you anyhitng you want, and then laugh when you sign the papers.
It's all about balance.

My friend just signed with the Marines. He leaves in October to go to the camp in South Carolina. The recruiter promised him everything short of a hand job and a new personality. I can't believe my friend isn't seeing it, it's actually sort of sad. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just see through the BS.

Well, it went good, the guy was straightforward. He told me every recruiting station has a set number of people they need to send off to basic each month. He also told me he has heard the horror stories of recruiters offering potential enlistees, the world and more. He didn't offer me anything more than he could. He also said straight up, that it was extreamly hard, and it was not for everyone. My family, and the recruiter are meeting wed. and I'm taking the ASVAB wednesday too... Begining of September I may be shippin' out... wow...

Think it out. Don't get into the hype of you having to defend your country. You can help the country out in other ways too. All I am saying is think it out. You have time. I don't want you to be put into a situation and be stuck for 2,4, or 6 years.

I'm not "hyped up" on defending the country. My main reason for going is to straighten myself out, and learn some discipline. I'm sure they'd straighten my ass out reaaaaaaal quick!
