I had a question. Are the IMRC universal? Meaning if I went to a boneyard a pulled a IMRC box could I install it on my Duratech? Or do you have to match certain things?

They are the same for all but the '95 2.5 Duratecs. The 3 liter boxes are the same, at least up to '00, but the cable is much shorter. As long as your cable is good, you can use it with the 3 liter Duratec's IMRC box. '01+ 3 liters don't have secondaries, FYI. wink

So could you use the 01 3L LIM on a 98 and get rid of the whole secondary thingy alltogether.

as long as your fuel system is the same and you'd have to run a custom program, other then that i don't see why not.

The injectors mount differently in the 01 3L LIM.
Don't know how hard it would be to fit the fuel rail, harnesses, and etc.

It is also Oval port design and would require head porting to be done to accomodate it. This would require removal and dissassembly of the heads.

On the other hand the late model SVT LIM is already larger than the stock valves.
Also what is to be gained by going from a split port design UIM to an single oval port LIM back to split port design heads!
That definitely doesn't sound like a smooth air delivery to me. Turbulence, loss of velocity, etc.

Now if you were to try both the new 3L UIM (single port) with the new 3L LIM and have you heads custom ported to match it you may have something.
Though not what you may think since the setup was tuned for a medium performing, low octane, ATX engine. Maybe if you threw in forced induction to aid in velocity???
