I have an older police interceptor and I am seriously considering a Marauder.
The 4.6 16valve 2 cam motor standard to the interceptor is nothing special and is essentially stock.
Dual exhaust and slight ECU tweaks account for the slight hp difference over the stock crown Vic. Oil and tranny coolers are the only add ons. Acceleration is sometimes worse over stock with a higher final drive to help high speed acceleration (mine is an absurd 2.73)There are tweaks to the transmission valve body to reduce wear.
The interceptor. Never was considered a rocket (8.42sec to 60 MPH and a top speed of 129) The 2003 model actually tests out slower at 127mph than the 2002 model. Please reference "Michigan State Police Tests 2002 Patrol Vehicles"
http://www.nlectc.org/testing/vehicles.html and specifically:
http://www.nlectc.org/pdffiles/msp2002bulletin.pdf All police cars and the marauder are speed limited by the computer primarily due to the temp rating of the tires. On my car, an '88 MA state police interceptor 5.8W with World products heads (197cc intake ports with 2.02 valves),cam, roller rockers, big manifold, headers, no cats, and a 4 barrel, no computer (removed), and no speed limiter, all tweaked for this 3800lbs car. having tried, I can tell you there is no way that I could reach 140mph. It is all a matter of hp (nearly 400) vs. wind resistance.
The Marauder with the 4 cam 32 valve heads, unique exhaust headers, The larger intake and throttle body is good for 300 or so HP, To say the car is slower than the Crown Vic sport or interceptor is just silly.
