Here's the skinny. I'm thinking about going to XP. I have a AMD 1700+ Asus motherboard with 128 meg of DDR RAM and an little 8 gig HD. Should I go to XP or stick with 98?
Oh yeah, can I plug one hard drive to the Promise IDE port? From what I know it's only for a RAID array, but can I use it for a single HD?
Thanks in advance!!!

XP no question.

You should be able to use the promise card as a standard IDE controller as well.

You will not enjoy XP with only 128MB RAM. If oyu have no intentions of upgrading the menmory, stick with 95. But, if you happen to come across more memory (it's pretty cheap), go for XP. I have an AMD XP1600+ with 512MB DDR and it flies and I ahve all the latest integrated multimedia junk I can ask for.

If the cost is the same ($0), I guess XP would be better.

I honestly wouldn't pay for the upgrade.

Don't be a fool get XP. If you don't have enough memory, buy somemore. Win95 is POS...and all you will do if you get 95 is think about going to XP anyways. If cost is the big issue then save some more money. XP is hands down the best OS microsoft has ever made.

Personally I would stick with Win98 over XP. (Of course, that's only because I've worked with 98 on my computer for three years now, and have only had XP for a week now. I'm still getting used to it, I guess... )

Please though, please ANYTHING over Win95!!!
