I'm thinking of the Daewoo DVG3000, $90 At BJ's. Don't want or need a really good DVD player yet, just something functional that plays MP3's as well.

Opinion's, comments ??

TIA.

I picked up the APEX 1500 DVD player for my parents last Christmas. Not a bad unit, but sometime the movies take on a Digitized look that higher-end DVD players won't suffer from. I think I paid about $80 for it.

Amazon has a nice Pioneer unit on Clearance for $99:

Check out ubid.com too. I have bought a butt-load of audio equipment from them.
Also try ttadirect.com, they have some good stuff too - and don't be afraid to buy refurbished - it still has a warranty on it.

Sort of off topic, but...

Does anyone know if PS2 will play MP3?

Thanx!

I'm not sure about the PS DVD player playing MP3's. Sorry frown

As far as the APEX tho, they're great favorites of all the techies at work here. We buy 'em because we can burn movies and they'll play 'em, (VCD Format) and they're cheap too!

Another word of warning... a lot of the cheaper units have trouble playing DVD-R's that small video production companies (like mine) produce.

In the not too distant future, everyone will be burning DVD's like CD's now. Unfortunately, the industry can't agree on a standard format and several competing camps are slugging it out for dominance in the market.

The current issue of Digital Video magazine tests cheap units compatibility with various discs. Also
videoguys.com DVD cookbook has a lot of information
